Color Series Episode Episode 75: Blue Moon

Episode 75: Blue Moon

To celebrate the 75th episode of Some Kind of Jam we're kicking off what is easily the most ambitious Guest DJ series to date, and something that will hopefully be repeated throughout a much more active 2015. Unlike Guest DJ episodes in the past where fellow musical mavens take a crack at creating an hour long playlist of whatever comes to mind, this series has a common thread: colors.

For this series every Guest DJ (and yours truly) had to pick songs with a specific color in the title, artist name, or if we're being lenient, album title. I chose blue for this first episode, and so every track has to have some kind of tie to the color blue. The added stipulation I gave myself for this round was to avoid songs with "blues" in the title. Although "Harlem River Blues" by Justin Townes Earle is truly a fantastic song, I left it off simply because "blues" is in the title to mark the type of song, not so much what the song is about. Also, it would've been way too easy to put together a playlist if "blues" could be included.

The next two episodes are set with Marc Consolazio taking on red, and Asif Ahmed doing green. A few other guest DJs have offered up ideas as well, but it's pretty open ended at this point. We may only do three, we may keep it going for a while.

If there's a color you'd like us to give a try, please leave a comment below or catch us on Twitter or Facebook. If you already have a color playlist put together you'd like to submit, just drop a link below and I'll give it a listen.

With no further ado, here's what you'll be listening to for the blue episode:
