Though there had been several in-studio performances by the time
The Werks stopped by
WIDR in the early days of 2008's spring, not one could compare to the shear energy and cohesion they brought to even the smallest of sets. Playing for just about a half an hour, the set felt more like a two hour encore for a show you debated never having end. Put more simply: I was hooked.
Since that time The Werks have quickly emerged as a national powerhouse. Whether it be the multitude of festivals they play every summer, or their own
Werk Out Music and Arts Festival (which has seen additions like
EOTO,
Rusted Root, and acoustic
Ekoostik Hookah), they are a none-stop touring force to be reckoned with. Combining psychedelic guitar licks and organ cops from the classic rock era with funk slap bass, synthesizers, and modern dance beats, The Werks are one of the many bands helping to push the "jam band" era further.
The Werks have released 3 several albums, including
Synapse (2009) and
The Werks Live at The Werk Out Music Festival (2010), and most recently their self-titled album,
The Werks (2012).
