Can't say it was exactly intentional... but this podcast is pretty much a "back in the day" edition with the majority of the artists not even having a Wikipedia page nevertheless a website to direct y'all to. That said, I feel this is one of the best in a long time. Not to besmirch the great name of the other podcasts, but this one truly has a little bit of everything and it all rocks my fucking socks. Especially the female vocal ranges of Mabel Franklin, Édith Piaf, and Nancy Wilson all in one sitting.
On a contemporary note is
My Morning Jacket's cover of "Our World" from the relatively under-the-radar Jim Henson classic
Emmit Otter's Jugband Christmas. Christmas is around the corner(ish), so if you haven't seen it now is actually the perfect time of year. If nothing else it's worth a watch just to see the Riverbottom Nightmare Band shred that lil ol town into a new century at the end.
Hope you enjoy this week's episode, let me know if you have any requests.
