Greetings!
Pretty damn excited to be back on a weekly playlist rotation and keeping this
podcast going. This week's selections have a mix of new and old and some curve balls. It was a few years ago now, but I'm still finding that a lot of folks don't know about the instrumental album
The Beastie Boys did, so it's always a treat to throw one of those tracks into the mix. Kinda wish they'd been making that kind of music all along, but where would the world be without Brass Monkey?
Toubab Krewe is a band I cannot praise enough and Lamines Tune is one of my favorites to showcase their truly unique blend of surf rock and African rhythm. Rounding out this week's playlist is legendary bluesman
Junior Kimbrough, an artist brought into the light for we new generation types by
Black Keys tribute album Chulahoma back in 2006. If you haven't listened to either be prepared for both to become heavy rotation in no time.
With no further ado, here's what you'll be getting in this week's installment:
Artist / Track / Album
5.
Cake / Commissioning A Symphony In C / Comfort Eagle
7.
Radio Moscow / Introduction > Frustrating Sound / Radio Moscow
8.
The Dansettes / Oh My! (Featuring Jaime) / That New Music Smell
10.
BoomBox / Showboat / downriverelectric
12.
Entrain / 9-Bar Samba / Entrain Live: Volume 2 "Right Away People"
