Whattup jammers, how's life? Good? good. I don't know what to write here today, but I sure did craft a playlist consisting of some great noises, arranged together very intentionally by a collection of very talented artists. There noises are organized in a harmonious way, mostly, that shall send you to a sort of controlled chaos, the way only music can do that thing, if anything can at all. Enjoy fam!

Ushering in Some Kind of Jam's new era of Featured Artists, we're happy to present Remember Jones! For those unfamiliar, check out their blend of unique big band sound on a familiar tune below:

Through years of searching for a sound that was both authentic and suiting of his vocal stylings, Remember Jones has crafted a unique, larger-than-life sound that hinges on the artist's ability to inject heartfelt emotion and a showman's panache into the music he creates. While his vocal ability has built Remember Jones--the moniker for bring-down-the-house-soulman Anthony D'Amato--into the icon of Asbury Park, NJ's music scene he is today, don't be surprised to find him working just as comfortably with a 20-piece orchestra. Remember Jones has amassed quite the posse over his ascent, and he brings them with him on his next tour, ensuring an unforgettable family affair for people who like to be confused at shows as to whether they've attended a concert or a Gatsby-esque dance party.

I sat down with Remember to get a feel for him, his music, his next tour, and what he has his eyes on next!

So, first, tell me--who is Remember Jones?
(laughs) Well, I am. Of course I started as Anthony, for years I performed as myself and it wasn't much different than who Remember is, but there was another artist named Anthony D'Amato in the area, and it kind of pushed me to create this stage persona I could fully commit to and just be. That's who Remember Jones is.

And that persona--can you describe him?
Well, Remember Jones is just that, an urge for people to remember. In my sound...I've always wanted to create a memorable live experience through my music, in terms of leaving people with memories, sure, but also to tap into some sort of nostalgia. Remember Jones is about the old school feels. He wants you to hearken back to that sort of grand, big band sound, and he's the liaison between the band and the audience that takes you there.

Tell me about your band--what role do they play in Remember Jones?
It's sort of an ever changing rotation, but some of the players have been there since the days I was performing around NJ as just a vocalist. Maybe 6 or 7 of the 20 or so that'll be playing with me at the Stone Pony (on November 25th) have been playing with me since then. They're critical. I'm really part of an artist collection, and somehow we have been able to transform having fun and playing music into what we're doing now--something serious.

When did it strike you that it was more than "fun," that it was serious?
It goes back to our album, which was funded through indiegogo. We had all our supporters come out for the recording at a venue because we wanted them to be a part of it too, to show our gratitude, and we were ready to have a recording that was really raw and spontaneous--the way only a live show recording could be--but the final product kind of made us question that.

What changed, exactly?
Well, we were very particular about recording our album in that live setting. There was a reason we didn't do a studio album--it just doesn't capture the energy and fun that we like about ourselves, let alone what our fans come to see. We wanted that energy, that fun--we welcomed and even looked forward to the improvised nature of the live recording, where anything could've been thrown at us.

And did that end up working for the album?
Yes and no. The energy created was exactly what we needed. But we were sitting, listeing to it, editing it, and started to recognize how good it was. Like, not to toot our horns or anything, but better than we could've hoped. And to make it a cohesive album, to make it really work, we ended up having to edit out some of those quirkier moments, that were fun but kind of detracted from the flow, from what we thought people would want to hear on an album.

You can hear Remember Jones debut album, Ladies and Gentleman, Remember Jones, here

As for Remember Jones' upcoming tour, fans can expect the big band party experience they've come to crave from RJ but in the form of a reinterpretation of Amy Winehouse's seminal album Back to Black, played in full with Remember Jones behind the wheel. Don't forget to stick around for an encore consisting of Remember Jones originals, sure to keep the party going until the very last note. If you can catch their show in Chicago you'll be lucky enough to get a whole set of Remember Jones originals (as they've already played their Back to Back to Black show to a jam-packed Lincoln Hall).

We asked Remember a few more questions, for fun:

Do you like to Karaoke?
RJ: No.

Oh. Well, imagine you did--go to song?
I Believe in a Thing Called Love, by the Darkness.

That falsetto though. I'll bite. What albums are you listening to now?
808s & Heartbreaks--Kanye; Joanne--Lady Gaga, pretty much albums we may be working on to "reinterpret" in the future, so maybe look for some Kanye in the near future ;)

Favorite word?
Is that a thing? Um...wordsmith.

You lived in Chicago for 3 years, so for those midwest peeps--whats your favorite hangout?
Frontier in West Town--good foods. Also Cafe Central too. Food centered hangouts for sure haha.

In that case, what is your ideal sandwich?
Love a good Cubano or Ruben. So much potential with sandwiches.

How true. Okay, last question--if you had a dog, what would you name it?
Hmmmmm, I'm not sure, but it'd have a human name, definitely.

Greetings, jammers! It's been a rough week, or really year, for us music fans--the recent losses of Leonard Cohen and Leon Russel have been widely felt and have reopened the wounds left by the passing of greats such as David Bowie, Prince, Merle Haggard, and many others who've left us this year. But let us not be hung up on their passing. Instead, let us celebrate how ALIVE they all made us felt. So, for Episode 88, here is a special LIVE episode, with samplings of some of the icons we miss and some other prolific live performances that serve to capture how alive music can make us all feel.

I don't know about you, Some Kind of Jam-ers, but I sure do love driving around with great music setting the score for the world I'm navigating through. Sometimes while driving though, we're met with speed bumps. These portions of our road are inconvenient and disruptive (seemingly, for this metaphor, be cool) and only serve to delay us in arriving at our destination. We must slowly drive over these speed bumps if we can ever hope to continue down the road at a more efficient pace.

So, as we brace ourselves for this speed bump we all must collectively drive over, turn up the car radio to full blast and let Episode 87 of Some Kind of Jam keep you company. Stay woke.

Hey there, jam fans! Been a while; nice to see you. After quite the hiatus, it's our pleasure here at Some Kind of Jam to kick off our new run with a smattering of jam that will be hard to resist smearing in and around your earholes. To begin anew, may we present an episode that is grounded in the NOW: featuring a sampling of the best recent releases from artists you may know and love (from Bon Iver to Phantogram) to perhaps some newer albums that may have flown beneath your radar (new Lotus anyone? Francis & the Lights?). October releases have been strong, but for good measure we through in some noises that we've been sitting on here, quite selfishly, during our hiatus.

So, without further ado, enjoy Episode 85: Return of the JAM-I
Much like the Color Series that started the year, the Guest DJs and I are back at it with another, maybe slightly more cheeky series: Pronouns. However, Pronoun Series sounds like something in elementary class, so we've gone with Replacement Series. In the color series we allowed for the color to be in the title, artist name, or occasionally the album title. This time around the pronoun has to be in the song title. And while it wasn't overly difficult to find a good number of songs, finding a cohesive group that play well together for an hour proved a touch more tricky.

Regular Guest DJ Marc Consolazio gets us going this week with We The People. Other Guest DJs will be covering You, Me, and Everyone in the coming episodes. If there's something you'd like us to give a try, please leave a comment below or catch us on Twitter or Facebook.
Well, Some Kind of Jam is about to hit the road back to South Korea again. This will be the last Stateside podcast for a little while as headquarters will be bumped back to the Far East next week. The playlist queue is just about dried up, and the next Guest DJ series will be lined up in the coming months, but there will likely be a bit of a break while settling into the new digs in Korea. For now, hope you like what you're hearing this week. Continuing Spread The Glove's Featured Artist section is East Lansing's own Desmond Jones. This five-piece funk/rock/jazz fusion group formed in 2012 and has played all over Michigan, Wisconsin, and Chicago with some of the Midwest's finest. With unique and original compositions, Desmond Jones blends melodic guitar riffs with an electrifying saxophone, groovy bass lines, and funky drums in order to create an upbeat and high energy live show.

Just this past November the band released their most recent EP, Thick Cuts. They'll be adding two more bonus tracks to the EP soon and releasing physical copies at their EP Release Show on March 20th. If you'd like to catch them on the road before, during, or after that show, here's where they'll be:

Mar 20: Lansing, MI: The Avenue Café, EP Release Show w/ Low Spark
April 8: Grand Rapids, MI: The Stache, w/ Dopapod
April 23: Lansing, MI: The Loft, w/ The Werks

Before all that, guitarist Chris Bota was kind enough to sit down to some questioning, and like a true Michigander brought up Faygo, well-fated casino trips, and... ICP?

Favorite Michigan city?
Grand Rapids. Two of our members, John and Isaac, were born and raised in East Grand Rapids and we all plan to relocate to the city after this summer!

Favorite Michigan cultural institution?
Faygo and ICP (The Insane Clown Posse)! We try to make the “Gathering of the Juggalos” every year. Woooop Woooooooooop FAMILY!

Favorite Michigan venue?
Michigan is such a great place for music that we can’t just pick one favorite venue! One of them is the Intersection in Grand Rapids. It is large enough to hold a huge crowd but small enough to still give you an intimate experience with the crowd. Another one of our favorite venues is the Loft in Lansing, MI. With Lansing being our hometown, it is always great to play to a crowd of friends, family, and fans that have become friends over the years!

Favorite Michigan band?
There are too many to choose from… but if we had to name a few we would choose Greensky Bluegrass, Vulfpeck, and Fried Egg Nebula!

Number of times you've used your hand as a map?
Too many to count!

Lake or ocean?
Is this a serious question for a Michigander?! The Great Lakes man!!

Favorite vacation spot?
Northern Michigan. What is better than a beautiful wooded landscape surrounded by tons of inland lakes?!

Top 3 bands on your iPod?
Little Feat, Charles Mingus, and MMW with John Scofield. Obviously this list changes about once week...

Favorite album?
This answer also changes about once a week for me but if I had to choose right now I would say Apostrophe by Frank Zappa.

Favorite word?
Jam. Jelly comes up as a close second.

Least favorite word?
Hate

Second favorite instrument to play?
The mandolin!

If you weren't playing in your current band, is there another band that you would love to play in?
I would be completely devastated if I wasn’t playing with Desmond Jones but I also wouldn’t be too bummed about playing with Snarky Puppy either.

Most inspirational musician?
There is absolutely no way I can name just one so I am going to provide you with four. Trey Anastasio, Frank Zappa, Thelonius Monk, and Charles Mingus.

In your career, what has been the best on stage moment for you?
The first time I noticed someone singing one of our songs, Rhyadah, word for word in the crowd. At the time I had no idea who this person was and was extremely honored to know that someone had spent that much time with our music to get to know it so well.

Most embarrassing moment on the stage?
I can’t say that I have ever felt embarrassed on stage. There was one time I zoned out quite a bit during a guitar solo and drooled onstage. I don’t know if anyone saw me do that though!

Best part of being on the road?
Spending time with my best friends and experiencing new places together! It has also been amazing starting to see some familiar faces along with new Jonesies from show to show. Our Lansing fans have been incredibly supportive and they make it that much more fun for us each night.

Worst part of being on the road?
The smells my car has accumulated from traveling with 5 musicians. The lack of sleep is also not the easiest thing to handle.

Have you been to the Mystery Spot in St. Ignace?
I have not! But I have probably passed it over 50 times and always wonder what the mystery hides…

Bandmate with the best fashion sense?
John Nowak is the best dressed and best groomed bandmate on the face of this earth. He will even groom the rest of us from time to time making sure our beards are in check and our makeup is on point.

Bandmate with the worst fashion sense?
To be honest, probably me. My goal most of the time is too look as wacky and weird as possible, usually with the help of shiny gold pants.

Best city to play in?
Mt. Pleasant, MI is amazing! We have just recently started working with an amazing group out of Mt. Pleasant that is called the Tree Love Collective. The guys that run this collective of artists and musicians are amazing people and we have gained some of the best fans we have through playing Tree Love events.

Worst city to play in?
We love playing in every city we travel too. We have taken away something from every show we have played and have never had an experience in a city that has negatively impacted us.

What do you do to unwind after a gig?
Something that is becoming sort of a ritual is listening to the set we just played right after the show ends and all our gear is packed up. It really depends on what city we are in but if we end up back in Lansing after a show that is what we will usually do, along with some nice tea prepared by JL Smooth (John Loria, Bass). One of our favorite things to do after a gig is to go to the casino and blow all of our show earnings! We have only done this twice, and have actually never lost any money overall!

What can't Vernors cure?
Our Michigan eeaaaaccents!

After a long hiatus, the Featured Artist section of the site is back with a little help from our friends at Spread The Glove. In the past this section highlighted bands in heavy rotation, but being affiliated with the Michigan-centric Spread The Glove has allowed the focus to shift onto the magnificent music scene going on in the Great Lakes State. Each Featured Artist will give readers a glimpse into their Michigan roots, musical whims, and a few random thoughts to boot.

Starting off with Cadillac's own Luke Winslow King. Mr. Winslow King is a guitarist, singer, composer, and lyricist known for his slide guitar work, and interest in pre-war blues and traditional jazz. Winslow King’s work consists of an eclectic mix, taking in delta-folk music, classical composition, ragtime, and rock and roll; juxtaposing original songs with those from a bygone era.

Following his critically acclaimed Bloodshot Records debut The Coming Tide in 2013, LWK (for brevity’s sake) has been as hardworking a musician as they come. Subsequent tours in the United States and overseas with his singing partner (and now wife) Esther Rose and a mutating band (including the core of upright bassist Cassidy Holden, drummer Benji Bohannon, and trumpeter/keyboardist Ben Polcer) landed the group in front of larger audiences while sharing the stage with the likes of Jack White, Pokey Lafarge, Taj Mahal, Chris Thile, and Rebirth Brass Band. Winslow King’s second release for Bloodshot in as many years, Everlasting Arms finds inspiration in the developmental experiences of life and has LWK and Co. building upon previous creative efforts with a wider scope, exploring a sonically and stylistically panoramic songwriting vision.

It is no secret that Winslow King is a student of the arts and an ambassador for New Orleans’s rich and colorful culture. As a teen he attended the Interlochen Center for the Arts near his hometown of Cadillac, MI. Later he studied music theory at University of New Orleans and eventually received a scholarship to study music abroad in Prague, Czech Republic. Following a chance 2001 move to New Orleans after becoming stranded when his tour van was ransacked, Winslow King’s education continued as he was schooled on the job from frequent, skin-thickening gigs on Royal Street, club performances at various spots along Frenchmen, and pick-up/recording sessions with local standouts including John Boutte, Roberto Luti, “Washboard” Chaz Leary, Little Freddy King, and George Porter, Jr. In 2013, LWK was nominated as best male performer by Offbeat Magazine, alongside Dr. John and Boutte.
(biography from lukewinslowking.com)

LWK and his band are currently touring in support of Everlasting Arms and will be in a midwest town near you very soon. Including this Thursday here in Chicago at The Hideout! But, just in case you can't make that, here's the upcoming schedule:
If you can't make it out to one of his upcoming shows, you can reminisce in his 2010 visit to the WIDR studios with us. The day involved a sousaphone, drum set, traveling amp and three grown men all crammed into a room that would be considered by some a sizable closet. You can read all about it and hear their in-studio set by clicking here.

The Color Series comes to a close with the first ever Guest DJ offering from AA Dowd. As the Film Editor of the A.V. Club, and former Head Film Writer for Time Out Chicago, this unrepentant film junkie obviously spends most of his time focused on cinema. Few critics offer such insightful and mind opening reviews while still having a firm grasp on what makes movies a truly enjoyable experience. In his own words "Movies and language are my passions. I encourage feedback and relish debate. I will write for food or best offer." Give him you best on Twitter @AADowd.

However, he was persuaded to put together a playlist that I happen to think fits quite perfectly into the week leading up to Valentine's Day: Black As My Heart. As has been the case with all of the other episodes in the Color Series, Mr. Dowd had to pick songs with a specific color in the title, artist name, or album title. Here's what he came up with:

Artist / Track / Album

Metric / Black Sheep / Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World soundtrack
Kanye West / Black Skinhead / Yeezus
Menomena / Queen Black Acid / Mines
Agalloch / Birch Black / The White EP
The Velvet Underground / The Black Angel’s Death Song / The Velvet Underground and Nico
The White Stripes / Black Math / Elephant
Beck / Black Balloon / "Tropicalia" single
Local Natives / Black Balloons / Hummingbird
Black Sabbath / Paranoid / Paranoid
Shabazz Palaces / Youlogy / Black Up
Johnny Cash / Man in Black / Man in Black
Pavement / Black Out / Wowee Zowee
Panopticon / Black Waters / Kentucky

It's not easy being green. This week's offering is a half and half collaboration from yours truly and regular Guest DJ, Asif Ahmed. Though we were able to put together a solid hour of music for you, it wasn't the easiest color to compile coherent music for. However, if you're into house music, this is most definitely the color for you. Spotify has an abundance of green-centric house songs to start your dance dance revolution.

For the usual reminder: Asif and I had to pick songs with a specific color in the title, artist name, or album title. A lot of the more ambient tracks like Múm's "Green Grass Of Tunnel" came from Asif while I couldn't help myself from putting Al Green on here. In the end I think they play quite nicely together, but feel free to leave your comments otherwise (or agreewise) in the section below. As always, feel free to reach out on Twitter or Facebook, or bother Asif on Twitter @goodmorningasif.
Back into the Color Series with the first Guest DJ offering from Mr. Mike Nudelman: Gold. Mike is an artist driven by impulse to draw and quest to better understand how he relates to the natural and digital environments he inhabits. His process is twofold, combining disciplined and labor-intensive techniques with a conceptual engagement rooted in romantic notions of technological advancement, mediation and popular culture. His bodies of work are a series of related meditations on artificiality and its potential to be beautiful and life-affirming. You can keep up with him on Twitter @NudelmanMike.

As has been the rule for every other Guest DJ in this series, Mike had to pick songs with a specific color in the title, artist name, or if we're being lenient, album title. In his own words "glittery gold is an aspirational color. The gold rush, the golden rule, winning olympic gold, and so on — gold is a thing, and a color of things, that people want. DJ Pretentious asked me to make a playlist and so I'm giving him the best. Gold."
The Color Series continues this week with an offering from regular Guest DJ Antimarc. As a quick reminder of the rules for this series, every Guest DJ has to pick songs with a specific color in the title, artist name, or if we're being lenient, album title. As per usual, Marc has done a damn fine job putting together an hour of music I think you'll really enjoy. This time he had the added challenge of basing everything around the color red.

Starting with this episode, each podcast will be losing the Start Time tag from previous episodes. There are several reasons for doing this, the first of which being cutting out time. Pulling the playlist into an editor and finding the exact start point was taking quite a bit of time, and honestly something that's prevented me from making more podcasts. Beyond that, I feel it will also add an element of surprise while listening to an episode. Going back to the mindset of listening on the radio, I like the idea of not constantly knowing what you're listening to and having to do just a little work to find out what it is. Fret not, this digging will be extremely easy: each episode can be found on my Spotify account. Specifically speaking, click here to listen to Episode 76 on Spotify.

If you find it's unbearable to listen to the episode without the start times, please leave a comment on this or any other post. You can also reach out via Twitter and Facebook as always.

To celebrate the 75th episode of Some Kind of Jam we're kicking off what is easily the most ambitious Guest DJ series to date, and something that will hopefully be repeated throughout a much more active 2015. Unlike Guest DJ episodes in the past where fellow musical mavens take a crack at creating an hour long playlist of whatever comes to mind, this series has a common thread: colors.

For this series every Guest DJ (and yours truly) had to pick songs with a specific color in the title, artist name, or if we're being lenient, album title. I chose blue for this first episode, and so every track has to have some kind of tie to the color blue. The added stipulation I gave myself for this round was to avoid songs with "blues" in the title. Although "Harlem River Blues" by Justin Townes Earle is truly a fantastic song, I left it off simply because "blues" is in the title to mark the type of song, not so much what the song is about. Also, it would've been way too easy to put together a playlist if "blues" could be included.

The next two episodes are set with Marc Consolazio taking on red, and Asif Ahmed doing green. A few other guest DJs have offered up ideas as well, but it's pretty open ended at this point. We may only do three, we may keep it going for a while.

If there's a color you'd like us to give a try, please leave a comment below or catch us on Twitter or Facebook. If you already have a color playlist put together you'd like to submit, just drop a link below and I'll give it a listen.

Should you need something to drown out the in-laws, listen to while opening presents, or just road trip music in the spirit of the holidays, this here is your mix. It was difficult not to simply post Guest DJ Logan Ryan Smith's A Very Jazzy Christmas (and maybe I will next year), but there were far too many gems to be found on Spotify to pass by. Some Christmas standbys like Ella, Bing, and Sufjan are here as always, but I was quite pleased to stumble across Grace Potter and The Nocturnals' rendition of "Please Come Home For Christmas," and Luke's "Mele Kelikimaka."

If you have some favorites that were missed, just leave em in the comments below (or on Facebook or Twitter) and we'll get em in next year. Some suggestions would make building this playlist go by a whole hell of a lot faster in 2015.

Have a happy and safe holiday season! See you in 2015 for the very special 75th episode!
To close out 2014 in style, Some Kind of Jam is pleased to announce an official partnership with Spread The Glove! Spread the Glove is for those in, from and fond of Michigan. It is a movement, a call to action and a community. Love where you're from, no matter where you are and join with others like you to build community. This community is used to facilitate relationships and benefit its members, build a sense of pride, generate a positive economic impact and help people fall in "Glove" for the first time or all over again. Community focused news and a retail store are at spreadthegloveMI.com.

As has been mentioned on here many a time, Some Kind of Jam officially got underway on the WIDR airwaves in good ol Kalamazoo, Michigan. This meant many a fine night listening to some of the best acts Michigan had to offer at Bell's Eccentric Cafe, the now defunct Kraftbrau, and Papa Pete's. It also meant having some truly fantastic Michigan acts in studio: from the hometown boys of Greensky Bluegrass to Ann Arbor's Ragbirds, and all the way down to New Orleans for transplant Luke Winslow King. The Great Lakes State has always been well represented and in the blood of this show, and it's extremely exciting to be partnering up with a lifestyle website proudly flying the Michigan flag. Some Kind of Jamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03640812738518074367noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3759725304757472938.post-36204146544156088372014-12-06T10:21:00.000-06:002016-10-19T04:08:57.035-05:00Episode 73: March to the Match

It isn't often that the world of music and sports combine to a near perfect crescendo. Those of us that were alive for the Aerosmith, 'N Sync, Britney Spears, Nelly, and Mary J. Blige Super Bowl halftime show have done everything we can to wipe it from memory. Electrolysis, hypnosis, stabbing pencils directly into the brain... whatever works. Then KISS played an NHL game. Outside. In LA. In 2014. All was lost.

Then, along came a podcast.

A MLS podcast called March to the Match. Aside from the tremendous tactical breakdown from the Armchair Analyst, this soccer podcast has the best set break playlist fathomable. From their tUnE-yArDs theme song, to Budos Band, to one of this podcast's favorites King Khan & the Shrines, the music is absolutely on point. So good are these set breaks that we fine folks who listen demanded a Spotify playlist, and our soccer overlords were kind enough to grant that request.

In honor of this weekend's MLS Cup final, and this music-in-sports saving podcast, this playlist is comprised entirely of music from the March to the Match podcast. The tunes indirectly come from the mind of Nick Firchau. He is the producer of March to the Match and the former host and producer of ExtraTime Radio on MLSsoccer.com. He previously worked for the Chicago Sun-Times and its affiliates, but his favorite assignment to date was covering the King Salmon Derby in Ketchikan, Alaska.

The tactical muscle of the podcast comes from Matt Doyle, a senior editor at MLSsoccer.com and writer of the popular Armchair Analyst column. He enjoys a good glass of scotch, the Pixies blasted at 11 and intelligent Twitter conversations with lunatic supporters groups. He is not a curmudgeon, he just wants you to think.

Sports fan or not, I think you'll thoroughly enjoy this playlist. Again, if you'd like to keep up to date with what they're playing, you can subscribe to their Spotify playlist HERE.

However, if you are a sports fan and you're on the fence about soccer, tune in to the MLS Cup final this Sunday at 2:00pm Central Time. It should be a damn good one.
The nearly overwhelming backlog is finally complete, and with its conclusion comes a request: want to contribute? In the past few years it's been great keeping the podcast going with Guest DJs, a few Featured Artists, and the bread and butter podcasts that keep it going, but I'd like to do a little more with the site.

So, if you or someone you know might be interested in writing album reviews, Featured Artist profiles, or even putting together an episode here or there, just drop a line. Murder, ghosts, witches, voodoo, lots of werewolves, and enough garage rock to choke Killer Klowns from Outer Space. For this year's tip of the cap to Halloween I've gone to the past looking for tales of grave robbers and monsters and was delightfully surprised at how many doo wop and jazz has been dedicated to the dark arts. While Ella Fitzgerald's "To Keep My Love Alive" ballad about killing off far too many husbands is easily the highlight of the playlist for me, there are plenty of more traditional Halloween tracks filling the hour.

Enjoy libations with freaks, pass out some candy, or dress up in something delightfully absurd and let this play in the background for your Halloween evening!
With this episode, I'm quite pleased to introduce another new Guest DJ to the list: Mr. Asif Ahmed. Aside from being the Art Director at Golden Road Brewing, Asif has an uncanny talent for tapping directly into your brain and figuring out exactly what you want to listen to. He's kind of like the human version of the "craving" machine in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy... but for music instead of sugary treats.

This episode has some of the stalwarts of the show like Nick Cave and Devo, but is almost entirely newcomers that fit amazingly well. Definitely plan on seeing Asif's name around here more often and included in some of the themed series planned for the coming months. Though I've been told he doesn't use it overly often, you can follow him on Twitter @goodmorningasif, or just leave a comment below.
